The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP) is a merit-based award sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited to reward scientists and research teams in Hong Kong or research-related institutions set up in Hong Kong universities for their scientific breakthroughs with significant transformative impact. The Laureates are selected in three award fields, namely Life and Health, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and New Materials and Energy.
In addition to recognizing outstanding research achievement, the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize also aims to promote science in Hong Kong. The Selection Committee will make independent judgments and objective evaluations on candidates based on the quality of their research, the innovative nature of their achievements, and the transformation brought about by their work.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is open to researchers from all over the world. To be eligible for the award, candidates should have made scientific breakthroughs in areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, and phase engineering of nanomaterials and 3D micro- and nanofabrication. The research should be carried out mainly in Hong Kong or the Greater Bay Area. Each award carries a monetary prize of US$1 million. If no winner is found for a particular category, the amount will be added to a jackpot fund for the next draw.
