What is the Hongkong Prize?
The hongkong prize is one of the world’s premier writing contests, attracting thousands of entrants every year. The Hong Kong Prize is a competition that encourages undergraduate and postgraduate students to conduct research on different aspects of the history of Hong Kong and its relations with China and Asia. It also promotes the study of Hong Kong history with an emphasis on new theories and concepts, as well as the application and transformation of research results for the benefit of society.
Winners will receive a cash prize and access to top research facilities in Hong Kong. Past winners include the founder of an NGO that shelters homeless adults, a professor credited with the invention of liquid biopsy technology, and several activists who risked their lives to advance freedom for others. The prestigious award was created to honor those who have done remarkable work in their fields and communities.
In order to win the prize, candidates must be first authors of original articles published in a Hong Kong medical journal between January 1 and December 31, 2018. Original articles may be prospective or retrospective clinical studies, observational studies, epidemiological studies, basic science studies or meta-analysis, but case reports, review articles and letters to the editor are not eligible. The articles will be selected by a panel of experts, and the judging results will be announced in March 2021.
Founded in 2022 by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, titled sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited and supported by numerous enterprises, the HK Xplorer Prize inspires scientific researchers and entrepreneurs to persist in innovative exploration to establish themselves in Hong Kong, serve the nation, and contribute to the world. Experts from both inside and outside of the region are invited to select outstanding scientists and teams for recognition for their pioneering efforts, the applications of their research achievements, and the transformation of those achievements in society.
The Board is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the articles of THE PRIZE Charter; suggesting important scientific research fields for THE PRIZE; appointing members of the Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; setting requirements of nominating experts; verifying and approving the final review results; and establishing procedures to deal with any violations of professional ethics. It is the highest decision-making body of THE PRIZE and its Secretariat. Its decisions are final. All information related to THE PRIZE is strictly confidential.
